No. The only thing you feel is a small needle for the injection — like a routine blood test. The scan itself is silent (unlike an MRI). You simply lie still on the bed for 4 to 8  minutes.

Most patients are surprised by how open it feels. The PET CT scanner is shaped like a wide doughnut — not a long, narrow tube. Both ends are open. The room has a window. You can see the technologist at all times, and they can hear you clearly throughout the scan.

If you are nervous about closed spaces, please tell us when you book. We can play calm music during your scan, take short breaks if you need them, and have a family member stay close by.

Plan for about 1.5 to 2 hours in total: 15 minutes for paperwork and the IV line, 60 minutes of rest after the injection, 8 minutes* for the actual scan, and a few minutes before you leave. Bring a book or your phone — the rest period is genuinely restful.

Most patients book today and scan tomorrow morning. PET CT uses a special radioactive tracer that is prepared specifically for your appointment. We confirm your slot one day in advance, so the tracer arrives fresh the morning of your scan.

This is how every PET CT centre in India works. It is what gives you an accurate, reliable scan.

Yes. We ask for at least 6 hours of fasting before your scan — and an overnight fast is easiest if your appointment is in the morning. Last meal the previous evening, water through the night, and arrive the next morning with an empty stomach.

Water is fine throughout — please drink plenty. No tea, coffee, juice, milk, chewing gum, sweets, or mouth fresheners in the fasting window.

Almost certainly not. We scan diabetic patients every day.

When you book, please tell us if you take insulin or oral diabetes medication. We will give you specific instructions about timing of your medicines and your appointment.

On the morning of your scan, we check your blood sugar before the injection. If it is in the normal range (under 200 mg/dL), we proceed. If it is high, we may reschedule for a different morning — this is to give you an accurate scan, not a poor-quality one. Less than 2 percent of diabetic patients need a reschedule.

We accept cash, UPI, debit card, credit card, and bank transfer at the centre. You can also pay online before your visit if you prefer.

We are a new hospital and have not yet completed insurance and TPA panel registrations. We are working on it, and most major insurers will be added in the coming months. For now, if your insurer reimburses you directly, we provide all the paperwork you need to file your claim — the original bill, payment receipt, doctor's prescription, and a signed report.

Your report is ready within 24 hours. You receive a soft copy on WhatsApp and a signed hard copy you can collect or have couriered.

Your treating doctor — the oncologist, cardiologist, or neurologist who referred you — is the right person to explain what the report means for your treatment. We share the report with them directly, so your next appointment with them is not delayed.

A prescription helps us prepare the right scan for you. We recommend bringing one if you have it, or sending us a photo on WhatsApp before you arrive.

If you live nearby and would prefer to come in person — please do. Walk in any time between 9 AM and 5 PM. Our nuclear medicine consultant, Dr. K Harini, will look at your history, advise the right scan, and confirm a slot for the next morning. This is especially useful for cancer survivors coming for follow-up scans, or anyone unsure which scan their reports are pointing to.

We can also accommodate last-minute slots on the same day if a booked patient has cancelled. If you would like to know whether a slot is open today, call us or send a WhatsApp message — we will reply within 5 minutes during reception hours.

For first-time PET CT patients, we always recommend speaking to your treating doctor first, so the right tracer (FDG, PSMA, or DOTANOC) is chosen for your condition.

Yes. PET CT uses a small dose of radiation — about the same as a few months of natural background radiation from the sun and the earth. For the conditions where PET CT is needed, the diagnostic benefit is far greater than the risk. We always use the lowest dose that gives a clear scan.

Yes — and we encourage it. One family member can wait with you in our family lounge during the rest period and the scan. Hospitals can feel lonely. Bring someone you trust.

One important note: if your companion is pregnant, has very young children with them, or is being treated for a serious illness, please let us know when you book. We will make different seating arrangements.
